This December, I'm taking my nuclear industry connections to South Korea to get them together with top-level decision-makers of the S. Korean nuclear power plant projects in Eastern Europe
In my view, the selection of a South Korean consortium as the preferred bidder for the construction of up to four nuclear power plant units in the Czech Republic stands out as one of the most significant developments of this summer. The KHNP (Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power) consortium, which includes Doosan Enerbility, Daewoo Engineering & Construction, and KEPCO's affiliates, secured this major deal with a binding offer for two units in Dukovany and an exclusive option for two more units in Temelin, if the Czech government approves. This project is expected to have a $17.4 billion price tag for the first two units.
But the momentum doesn’t stop in the Czech Republic. KHNP is also actively involved in Poland, where they signed a letter of intent with Polish energy companies ZE PAK and PGE to construct a nuclear power plant based on APR1400 technology at the Pątnów site. Although this project could face challenges due to EU competition rules, KHNP has already commenced a site assessment, and a joint venture—PGE PAK Energia Jądrowa—has been established to manage its development. With this project, KHNP's commitment in Eastern Europe rises to a total of seven reactors across the Czech Republic and Poland—a monumental undertaking for any reactor technology vendor in the World.
How Does This Relate to Me?
As a B2B matchmaker, I’ve been facilitating face-to-face meetings between key stakeholders in the South Korean nuclear supply chain and European companies since 2017. With South Korea now planning to build seven reactors in Eastern Europe, these meetings have become more critical than ever. Both for my clients and for South Korean contractors which will need to integrate new suppliers into their existing supply chains to successfully manage these ambitious projects. The NES 2024 Global Nuclear Energy Exhibition presents a golden opportunity for me to connect my clients with top-level executives from KHNP, KEPCO, Doosan, Hyundai, Samsung, Daewoo, and other key players, all of whom are part of the event's steering committee. Taking place from December 3 to 5 in Gyeongju, home to KHNP's headquarters, this event is the perfect occasion to conclude 2024 for all business developers in nuclear energy industry. In addition to the major players, the event in Gyeongju consistently attracts a range of mid-level suppliers and stakeholders from the South Korean nuclear industry, offering countless networking opportunities for smaller suppliers seeking potential partners within the Korean nuclear supply chain Besides B2B meetings, the exhibition, and concurrent conferences organized by nearly all of South Korea’s nuclear associations, this year's event will also include a visit to the Saeul Nuclear Power Plant and Doosan's Nuclear Manufacturing Facilities.
So, What Does It Have to Do with You?
My longstanding relationship with the NES 2024 organizers places me in a unique position to schedule meetings for the exhibitors and buyers I bring to the event.
